Rules & Terms
- “Islands & Oceans” are categories that can be either fiction or non-fiction. The only requirement is that the film deal with either Island Cultures and their diaspora or the Ocean and the environment. Both “Islands & Oceans” categories (Feature & Short) are open to filmmakers of all ages & all territories.
- Feature: running time of at least 60 minutes.
- Short: running time under 60 minutes. (Although under 20 minutes is preferred).
- “Spotlight on Youth” category is for filmmakers aged 21 and under and specifically located in South Florida. If your film is selected, you must attend.
- “Spotlight on Youth” Films: running time must be 5 minutes and under. Can be any genre, and may include music videos.
- “Spotlight on Key Biscayne” Films regard filmmakers that are either residents of Key Biscayne or have made films about Key Biscayne and the surrounding area. Can be fiction or non-fiction and any length under 120 min.
- All films must be made within 5 years up to the date of the live festival.
- No Genre (horror films).
